Castlepollard Community College 9-8
Ballymahon Vocational 4-7
U16 Ladies Football
Amidst a scoring flurry, Castlepollard Community College Ladies emerged as winners in their first game of the season. The home side started well and saw an impressive first half performance give them a substantial lead early in the tie. Goals from Jessie Ginnell, Kaitlin Moore, Ciara Keague and Megan D'arcy gave Castlepollard the pillars of an outstanding scoreline. Without providing a goal, credit must go to Ciara Earle for her performance in the first half as the Ballycomoyle full-back made a range of blocks an important interceptions to prevent Ballymahon matching the Castlepollard scores.
Ballymahon did however rally early in the second half with two goals to put some pressure on the home side. However, if it wasn't the presence of Rachel O'Neill in the Castlepollard goal, Ballymahon would have been closer as the game reached a crucial stage. To ease the fears of the Castlepollard faithful, Megan D'arcy, Sara Guinan and Jessie Ginnell added further goals to their tally to bring the points home. Although it was an impressive team performance, strong efforts from Sinead Clarke and Ciara Smyth underpinned the side's eventual win.
